Lodged in a palatial estate with a lap pool and a sun deck, Heror is refusing to vacate unless she's handed a $100,000 "relocation fee." But it doesn't stop there; she’s been living there for over 500 days without paying rent. Exploiting legal loopholes concerning permits and approved occupancy, she’s become an immovable fixture while the beleaguered property owner still has to pony up for mortgage payments, taxes, and maintenance. No one can accuse Heror of not doing her homework; she previously pulled similar stunts in Oakland.

In the face of pandemic eviction bans and "just cause" ordinances, landlords are burdened with sustaining tenants who see no need to fulfill their end of the deal.
