How To Bake A Lemon Drizzle For Beginners | Recipe | Baking For Beginners Cake Easy

In this video I will show you how to bake a lemon drizzle cake for a beginner who’s never baked a cake before. This is a great cake to teach a complete novice how to bake a cake and I have chosen to bake a lemon drizzle instead of the typical Victoria sponge that most people are encouraged to bake for their first cake as I find there’s a better flavour with the zingy lemon flavour opposed to the neutral flavours of a Victoria sponge.

The recipe is made using what's called the creaming method, described so as each stage of the process involves beating the ingredients with a spoon creaming them together hence the name.

The recipe:

4oz Butter
6oz Caster Sugar
6oz Self Raising Flour
2oz Milk
Zest of 2 Lemons
2 Eggs

And for the lemon drizzle syrup:

3oz Sugar
Juice of 2 lemons

If you would prefer to use the recipe in grams these are the quantities:

100g Butter
150g Caster Sugar
150g Self Raising Flour
50g Milk
Zest 2 Lemons
2 Eggs

And the syrup:

75g Caster Sugar
Juice 2 Lemons

Ovens when baking vary from appliance to appliance, make sure your oven is preheated, once the temperature light goes out wait an additional 20 minutes to ensure the oven has fully heated up.
