Israel's energy minister says that a decision to renew water supplies to parts of southern Gaza was agreed on between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden.

The Israeli decision to renew water supplies to parts of southern Gaza should be taken with a "grain of salt," some Palestinians in the besieged coastal enclave say.

Concerns about dehydration and the outbreak of waterborne diseases, including cholera, remain high given the collapse of water and sanitation services, the UN said on Sunday.

The last functioning seawater desalination plant shutdown on Sunday due to lack of fuel. Meanwhile, people have resorted to consuming brackish water extracted from agricultural wells.
