I had some trouble finding the study that dr. Drew is referring to, but I expect it’s this study:

The article is behind a paywall, but the first page is shown. It says, among other things:

> [Immune checkpoint inhibitor]-related myocarditis ... is associated with a case fatality rate exceeding 40% with worse prognosis reported in patients with concomitant myasthenia gravis-like and myositis symptoms. Elevation of cardiac troponin (cTn) is a major component of the diagnosis of ICI-related myocarditis

This article says:

> Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)–induced myocarditis is one of the most serious complications of cancer treatment. Although the incidence is uncommon, physicians should be aware of this potentially life-threatening immune-related adverse event (irAE) because of a potential case-fatality rate that can, in the most severe cases, approach 50%.

The articles are specifically about Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-induced myocarditis, but unless there is clear and compelling evidence to the contrary, we should assume heart damage is heart damage, regardless of the cause.
