The "thousand years" concept in Rev. 20 hearkens back to writings ascribed to Enoch. The Messianic "thousand years" is not meant to describe a limited penultimate time period before the end, but an infinite, ultimate period transcending time -- the Last Day. And this is a good thing! "As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be -- WORLD WITHOUT END, AMEN!"
