Pumpkin seeds were offered from October 11, 2023 through October 18, 2023.

Pumpkin is a member of the Reinforce-Mint family.
Pumpkin costs 150 Sun. (-25 Sun at levels 3, 5, 7 and 9.)
When planted, Pumpkin can provide a shield around a plant which inhabits inside of it.
This shield can absorb 4,000 damage. (+400 per level except level 2 where Pumpkin can absorb +800 damage.)
When given plant food, Pumpkin will heal and can absorb an additional 8,000 damage. (+4,000 damage absorption at levels 4 and 8.)

Commentary:
Pumpkin acts like a vine, granting a plant a sturdy shield.

Bottom Line:
Pumpkin is not a bad plant. However finding good uses for it can be challenging. Pumpkin works best on levels where one can not lose many plants and there are very vulnerable plants in the line of fire.

However, Pumpkin can counter some plants. For some offensive plants like Bonk Choy or Pokra, Pumpkin provides a nice sturdy shield. However for others like Olive Pit or Endurian, Pumpkin actually will hinder those plants from affecting the zombies - as Pumpkin must be eliminated first.

We also try to vary the strategies from week to week and showcasing different plants and strategies and ideas. Using the same strategy week after week would be boring to see.
