Gen 16
Ten years have elapsed since Abram left his father's house. Sarai was getting impatient; her hopes were dwindling. The maidservant Hagar, she was to attend to the personal needs of Sarai, there's not a co-ownership between husband and wife, she's owned solely by the wife as a servant, it's only her property.

It was common in that day to blame the infertility of a couple on the wife and also to you know I guess blamed Elohim too. She was losing hope in the promise of a child and so she's going to take matters into her own hands and going to handle it her way…

You know it was not going to work out good, Sarai, she's trying to take Elohim’s promise in her own hands and Abram was wrong in allowing her to do this.

Gen 16:7 Now the angel of the LORD found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur.

The angel of Yahweh spoken of here, it's apparently a manifestation of Yahweh. Elohim is showing His love and care to the slave as well as to the Masters in the world. Hagar fled in the direction of her native land which was Egypt.

Gen 16:10 Moreover, the angel of the LORD said to her, “I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they shall be too many to count.”

Look how this angel of Yahweh says “I will greatly multiply your descendants” well who does that? I’ll tell you who it is, that's a manifestation of the Father. Her son is going to be Ishmael and he too is going to be the father of twelve tribes and the fulfillment of this is recorded to Genesis 25, we have more genealogy here.

The name Ishmael, it means Elohim hears. Arabs claim to be sons of Abraham through Ishmael, that is there claim and they claim Palestinians as their own land that Palestine due to this because they say it was given to them through Ishmael, that's why the Palestinians think they can at least claim that land.

Gen 16:12 “And he will be a wild donkey of a man, His hand will be against everyone, And everyone’s hand will be against him; And he will live to the east of all his brothers.”

What a prophecy, that's exactly what we have today, the sons of Ishmael they're against everyone that's just how it is. The Arabs, even among their brethren they fight continually, the descendants of Ishmael lived to the east of the descendants of Isaac today.

Let's not overlook a big passage like this. This is rather powerful stuff; this is what it is going to be like, this is where he is going to live. Look, that’s what he's like and that's where he lives.

Gen 16:13 Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees”; for she said, “Have I even remained alive here after seeing Him?”

The angel of Yahweh is declared to be a manifestation of Elohim by her comment. Because she says you are an Elohim who sees.

This whole thing about Hagar and Ishmael plays such a big part in Scripture. The battle between Isaac and Ishmael, the battle between Jacob and Esau, it's one that rages today. It's one that is causing the biggest conflicts in the world today and it started here early on in Genesis. That's the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent.
