Quagga mussels found in Snake River

Quagga mussels are an invasive species that can cause significant damage to Idaho's hydro and irrigation infrastructure. They are small, shellfish-like creatures that attach to hard surfaces and filter-feed on plankton. Quagga mussels can clog pipes, damage boats and docks, and kill fish and other wildlife.

Idaho officials are urging people to stay off the water in areas where quagga mussels have been detected. This is to help prevent the spread of the mussels to other water bodies.
