Deadly Premonition (2010) was developed by Access Games and published by Ignition Entertainment in the USA

Out of all possible ratings: Terrible, Bad, Average, Good, Great....

My rating, based upon my playthrough experience, is: Good!

Polarizing it is! While my overall experience of Deadly Premonition was good, it's not without its problems. I can definitely understand why this became such a cult classic and a polarizing game. Admittedly, I tried playing through this game before, twice. But, I was turned off by the enemy types and wasn't open enough to what would turn out to be a genre mutilating mix of whatever-the-hell-the developers-felt-like, and it most certainly is!

There is a lot of uniqueness to this game. You certainly aren't going to play anything like it elsewhere, possibly ever again due to publishers not wanting to take risks. It's extremely ambitious, rough around the edges, makes a lot of poor design choices, but despite all that it manages to charm the player with oddities, character dialogue, a great story, and a real sense of empathy for the characters involved.
It's one of those rare games that made me feel like they pulled off something thought impossible. The game is definitely better than the sum of its parts, if you're not instantly turned off by how odd it is.

I will say, if you decide to play it, get an old Xbox 360 copy. The other versions of this game are known to perform poorly. While I cannot speak for the PC performance of this game, I can, without a doubt, state the PS3 version performs terribly. If you can't get a 360 copy, or have nothing to play said copy on, you can try your luck with the other versions.

This is one game I will NEVER forget.

Deadly Premonition is available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch
