Mags Visaggio has been working with DC Comics editorial for almost a year on a story to transition Superboy Conner Kent into a trans girl. That the company even humored this in light of their issues with Superman creators Siegel and Shuster should tell you that editiorial is not interested in protecting their own IPs.
