Biden interviewed by special counsel in classified documents probe

The White House confirmed on Monday that President Biden underwent interviews with Robert Hur, the special counsel responsible for investigating his management of classified documents over the past two days.

“The voluntary interview was conducted at the White House over two days, Sunday and Monday, and concluded Monday,” White House Counsel’s Office spokesperson Ian Sams said in an emailed statement.

“As we have said from the beginning, the President and the White House are cooperating with this investigation, and as it has been appropriate, we have provided relevant updates publicly, being as transparent as we can consistent with protecting and preserving the integrity of the investigation,” Sams said.

The New York Times, which initially broke the story about the interview, suggests that Biden’s interview could indicate that Hur’s investigation is approaching its conclusion, Axios reported.
