BREAKING: Allegheny Health Network responds to claims of providing needles, other paraphernalia to drug addicts:

FULL STATEMENT:

“Thanks for the opportunity to respond. As we discussed, AHN facilities, including our hospitals and other offices and clinics, do not distribute needles or other such supplies. The community outreach hubs are operated by the City, and our AHN Center for Inclusion Health team provides a host of services at those locations for people with unstable living situations, including mental health services, job search services, housing connections, and connections to drug rehab services. The hubs, however, also support harm reduction approaches for those with substance use disorders who are not ready to quit. That program, including the clean needle exchange, is facilitated by the City’s Office of Community Health and Safety.”
