It has proliferated worldwide, creating a siege mentality in many areas.

In the United States, violence has been glorified by the mass media, with thugs portrayed as 'heroes' in movies, TV series, and novels.

Murder, lust, illicit sex, thievery, and other forms of lawlessness have been systematically exalted.

This has caused many to become calloused to the reality of the violence that is increasingly occurring around them in society.
