Lars Mikkelsen's Grand Admiral Thrawn undoes one of Emperor Palpatine's greatest Force purges in Ahsoka, and it comes as a result of his unexpected alliance with the Nightsisters. In the finale of the Star Wars Disney+ TV show, Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) tells Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) that it was Thrawn who "awoke" the witches just before cementing his alliance with him. It's clear he's cut some kind of deal with them, one that urged the Great Mothers to reach out to Morgan Elsbeth between galaxies and bring both him and his Imperial Star Destroyer back to the main galaxy.
