Some DTE Energy crews are preparing to go to Florida in preparation for Hurricane Irma. According to the company, the first DTE linemen will leave for Florida on Thursday for what's expected to be severe damage from Irma. In all, there are more than 300 linemen and 100 tree trimmers left first thing in the morning. They are expected to be in northern Florida by Friday afternoon and will wait there on standby until they are needed. The crews include several bucket trucks leaving from the Redford Service Center. Irma is currently a category 5 storm rolling through the Caribbean and could hit Florida by this weekend.
