The world grapples with economic uncertainty as global market sentiment swiftly changes. The US Treasury yield spread has been inverted since July 2022, often a precursor to a recession. According to economist Rafi Farber, deflation has been evident since June 2022, yet there hasn't been a severe crisis like the 2008 financial meltdown. Farber credits this relative stability to the influence of reverse repos.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the Federal Reserve implemented extensive monetary stimulus programs, resulting in a surplus of cash that could potentially lead to hyperinflation. To prevent this, the Fed gradually reintroduced the excess cash into the banking system using reverse repos, acting as a controlled release valve for liquidity created by their monetary policies.
