Green Party Conference has opened with a bang!

Green Party Conference began with a leadership speech from Carla Denyer & Adrian Ramsey putting other parties on notice!
Right, so Green Party Conference opened up rather unfortunately as the results for the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by election came out, so whilst the media fixated on that, they had ample excuse to ignore the Greens as per usual, but the Conference has opened up with a bang, not waiting for the Party leader speech until the end of the Conference like the Tories did, but starting with it as Co-leaders Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsay had a few home truths to tell to the main parties that ought to have them sitting up and taking notice, but of course when what they are saying goes woefully underreported, then what pressure are they under? Be a shame if people shared content to do something about that wouldn’t it?
Right so Green Party Conference has kicked off in Brighton, I’d love to be there, but my circumstance as a carer as many of you are familiar with somewhat prevent that happening, however that’s not to say feedback and announcements and speech content hasn’t come out, you just have to find it for people, buried as it tends to be, we can’t have people listening to the Green Party after all, they are the anti-establishment opposition now, people might get ideas about things being different, ideas above their station ,they need to know their place and nothing quite conveys that like two main parties being led by knights of the realm and the other one led by one of the richest men in the country does it? Well the Green Party co-leaders do not fit into that box, Carla Denyer’s background is in mechanical engineering, working in the wind energy sector, so her commitment to divestment from fossil fuels is nailed on and Adrian Ramsay entered local politics at the age of 21, becoming one of the organisers of Caroline Lucas 2010 election campaign which saw her elected as the first ever Green Party MP, so between the two of them, they’ve got a top election strategist and a switched on practical environmentalist running the show, so little wonder they aspire to increase the number of Green MPs represented in parliament. More on that in a moment though. In all likelihood, this is the last Green Party Conference before we have that general election though and the Greens need to stand out, need to show they are the real opposition now, as all other parties fight to be as similar as each other, whilst trying to imply they’d be the best ones at doing exactly the same failed politics that have left the country where it is after 13 years of Tory misrule.
