Marine Week Detroit showcases the Marines with multiple events

When you think of the U.S. Marines, you likely think of them defending our country in far-off places, or training in coastal United States cities, but beginning Wednesday they’re invading Detroit. Roughly 700 Marines will appears throughout the city of Detroit as part of Marine Week Detroit. It’s an event meant to bring the communities who are less familiar with the Marine Corp. together with the men and women who fight for our country. The event, which runs Wednesday through Sunday, will feature everything from a daily ceremonial wreath laying in remembrance of Gold Star families to demonstrations on the Detroit River. Previous events have been held in Boston, Chicago, Seattle and most recently Nashville. This will be the first year that Marine Week has come to Detroit.
