"I Love the Night Life," written by Alicia Bridges and Susan Hutcheson, was Bridges' only top forty hit, a one hit wonder, rising to the no. 5 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978 (Whitburn, 2013). It is interesting that the song was originally written with an R&B vibe, but because of the disco trend, her producer changed it to a disco number (aliciabridgesforacauseofwomen, 2023; songfacts, 2023). Contrary to the belief that Bridges was a disco performer, she "was primarily a singer of R&B, rock, blues and love songs" (aliciabridgesforacauseofwomen, 2023). In fact, she told Sounds Magazine, "I will never do a disco album. I'd prefer to do deodorant commercials. I didn't sing since I was ten years old so I could stand up like a moron and go 'Getfunkynow, getfunkynow, getboogie-woogie, getfunkynow'" (Sounds Magazine, 1979).
