Former Kansas State quarterback Matt Miller lost his battle with prostate cancer today. He was 49. He leaves behind three beautiful daughters. As Fitz explains, this should not have happened. The medical community does not even test for prostate cancer — the PSA score is attained via a simple blood test — before the age of 50 but by the time Matt went to the hospital with serious urinary issues, it was probably too late. At 47 at the time of diagnosis and he was already categorized as Stage 4 metastatic. The cancer was everywhere, including his bones and brain. Matt is gone but he left a message, one that Fitz, who is in remission with his Stage 4 non-metastatic prostate cancer, wants all men to hear. Demand your doctor tests to establish your PSA baseline score. Beating prostate cancer is easy with early detection.
