Dying to Selfishness

To understand this concept of dying to self (submission), a person must imagine God is giving every person on Earth his own free gold mine (title deed) as a gift from His Son in the form of free redemption (water baptism). Secondly, God is asking everyone on Earth to now be true to himself by digging out the gold (sin-debt) from his own personal gold mine to repay His Son for allowing the people of Earth to earn their own salvation (confession/spirit baptism). Thirdly, God is asking everyone on Earth to listen to his guilty conscience by sharing his gold with others (save souls) to help His Son bless God’s saints with eternal rewards (communion). Finally, God is asking everyone on Earth to enter instinctive compulsion or thinking for himself by using his gold to help God build His kingdom of glory (set free) to set God’s Son free (confirmation) from sin, evil, death, damnation, and oblivion. The idea associated with this gold mine story is that by using Christ’s church (own gold), the righteous government (dig gold), and one’s happy home (share gold) as God’s gold mines, an eternal wealth of treasures can be obtained so that all men can be saved. The Lord is asking” each and every one of us to sacrifice ourselves by denying ourselves, obeying His commandments, selling all and giving to the poor, picking up Christ’s cross, and following the Lord into the fires of hell to save the lost (damned) at any cost. This theme of “giving all” to “get all” sits at the heart of the Good News (free gold mine), the Gospel Message (dig gold), doctrinal truth (share gold), and doctrinal truths/incarnate word (build kingdom) of Jesus Christ’s salvation message to the world.
