Most of us would stop dead in our tracks whenever we find an animal in distress on the street, jumping at the first opportunity to help them. Dogs and cats get in all sorts of trouble all the time, but one can also find some unusual animals on the road as well, like emus on the street in Israel or kangaroos in Australia. These animals are native to those countries, so you might call them a mundane occurrence.

But would you help a marine animal in trouble? These people encountered an entangled sea turtle while heading to the Marietas Islands National Park located near Punta Mita and Puerto Vallarta in the Banderas Bay area, Mexico. The turtle was wrapped around fishing net that already had two dead birds trapped in it.

Dive Instructor Christian H. Hauser approached the scene on Captain Yeyo's boat, the “Mama Juana”, jumped into the water with a pocket knife, swam to the turtle and gently started cutting the net. After a couple of minutes, the turtle was successfully rescued and was able to swim freely!

Sea turtles face a number of threats out in the open and irresponsible throwing of fishing nets is one of them, but thanks to good people, these marine animals get a second chance at a good life. People in Indonesia found another massive sea turtle wrapped in a fish net and rushed against the clock to release the animal back to its natural habitat.
