Benjamin E. Wecht is a longtime educator and writer with a diverse professional background spanning the
fields of curricular development, marketing communications, teaching and journalism. As the administrator
of Duquesne University’s Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law for the past 22 years, he has
managed an internationally acclaimed center for professional and general public education that provides
onsite and online continuing education seminars and conferences on current topics at the interface of science,
law and public policy. Ben also serves as managing member of the Forensic Sciences and Law Education
Group, a small business involved in curricular design and the production and dissemination of educational
video products relating to topics at the interface of forensic investigation, criminal law and historical inquiry.
Finally, from a professional perspective, he is a longtime freelance writer and former newspaper reporter and
book author currently specializing in feature stories pertaining to science, the arts and economic development
in Pittsburgh.
