A comprehensive airborne training exercise under the guidance of Russian instructors was conducted with servicemen of the 25th Special Forces Division of the Syrian Arab Army.

The airborne landing was provided by military transport and army aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

During the exercise, servicemen carried out more than 1,500 jumps in desert terrain in Aleppo province, mountainous areas in Latakia province and over the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

During this exercise, for the first time in the history of the Syrian Arab Army, Syrian servicemen practised a night mass landing from an IL-76 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces with free fall on Arbalet-2 special-purpose parachute systems from an altitude of 5,000 metres using night vision devices.

The final stage of the control exercise was the capture of a conditional enemy airfield. In the course of this stage, more than 100 special forces parachuted from Mi-8MTSh helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces using Arbalet-2 parachutes in combat gear from a height of 4,000 metres and planned to a range of more than 8 kilometres. Fire points of the conditional enemy were hit by small arms fire and grenade launchers from the air during the parachute descent.

Simultaneously with the actions of the servicemen at the airfield, a special forces group landed over the Mediterranean Sea and carried out the task of occupying and blockading a section of the coast to prevent the mock enemy from leaving the liberated airfield and further destroying it.

The tactical actions of Syrian servicemen on the ground were supported by the crews of Ka-52 attack helicopters of the Russian Armed Forces.
