The dating "Door Test"

It all started from a conversation about the "door test" in A Bronx Tale (have you seen it?). If you haven't, here's the gist: One character tells another guy to open the car door for his date. If by the time he gets to his door the girl hasn't reached over and unlocked the door for him (this was before there were automatic door locks), then he advises him to dump her. He says, "If she doesn't reach over and lift up that button for you so you can get in, that means she's a selfish broad and all you've seen is the tip of the iceberg. You dump her and you dump her fast."

So, we started talking about what the modern-day equivalent of the door test would be. Turns out, there are a few that guys use pretty regularly (at least the guys I was chatting with). Here are three:

The Reach Test: If she reaches for her wallet when the check comes. Though most guys will pick up the bill (especially in the beginning), they still like the idea that their date is willing to pay. "It shows she's considerate," my friend says.

The Party Test: How she interacts in a social setting. If a woman is able to hold her own and mingle with his friends/family without his constant attention, it's a major plus. That's not to say your guy should abandon you when he brings you to a social gathering, but he shouldn't feel the need to babysit you the entire time either.
