Butchering and Processing Our Turkeys - *WARNING* SLIGHTLY GRAPHIC

Well. The day we have been putting off has come. It is time to butcher and process our turkeys. We bought three turkeys in the spring to grow and process ourselves for our holiday dinners and some extra turkey in the freezer. Our last and largest bird weighed 26 lbs live and almost 23 lbs cleaned and bagged.

I have to say we really enjoyed raising these turkeys and were not looking forward to butchering them, but we are so thankful for the experience and the ability to yet again grow our own food.

We treated these turkeys with the utmost respect and care in their raising and their time of butchering. Growing our own food is not just rewarding, but also teaches us to have more respect for the lives of the animals we are responsible for.

Hopefully I will be able to do a teaching video on this soon, but for now this is just how our day went. So if you have any questions on the process, feel free to reach out. We love helping others who are trying to learn to grow their own food.
