Storm Shield Forecast morning update 9/2/17

Unfortunately we're getting even hotter today, with a forecast of 110 in Bakersfield, which would tie today's record set back in 1955. As a result the Excessive Heat Warning continues through tomorrow, but it's paired with an Air Quality Alert as well for all of Kern County. That's thanks to the stagnant weather trapping all our pollution, but here's also a lot of smoke filling in from wildfires burning to our north, so don't over exert yourself because the valley air quality is unhealthy for everyone. As for our friends in the mountains, the Kern River Valley climbs to 105 today with 96 in Tehachapi and 92 in Frazier Park. We'll see increasing clouds from the south, but with this intense heat there's so much evaporation I'm only calling for a 20% chance of thunderstorms. Once the sun sets and temperatures are able to drop a bit we'll see increasing rain chances overnight
