This week, the world will witness the historic return to Earth of the Osiris-REx mission, the first ever asteroid sample return mission. After four years in space, the spacecraft will release a capsule containing about 8.8 ounces of sample material collected from asteroid Bennu. The capsule will parachute to the ground in the Utah desert, where it will be retrieved and shipped to NASA's Johnson Space Center for examination. The sample will be unveiled during a live televised NASA news conference on October 11th.
