Last Saturday, the four giant trimarans, managed to complete 44 runs, despite conditions that were hardly conducive to competition, 5 to 13 knots of wind. As for the 350-mile offshore race, which got underway the following day, the level of competition was particularly high, with very small gaps between boats.
The three scheduled races were completed in the Star Vintage Gold Cup 2023 on Gull Lake, Michigan, with very close racing. At the top of the days result were Brazilians, Lars Grael and Mauricio Bueno, with a 5-1-1 performance. In second place was local skipper Josh Powell and his crew Luke Lawrence of Stuart, Florida, with finishes of 1-8-3. On Day 3, like on Day 2, there was no racing, so the final results were the same as on Day One.
The women’s wave fleet took to the water for the first time at the 2023 schauinslandreisen Windsurf World Cup Sylt, presented by got-2-b, as the single elimination got underway in the cross-shore float and ride conditions. Having the patience to wait for the set waves proved crucial and there were some excellent performances, whilst some different names booked their places in career first finals to cause a turn up for the books as multiple upsets were handed out.
