Don't Get Burned by Safety Requirements - Job Bidding Advice for Construction Contractors

In years past, safety requirements were not so strictly enforced, but these days, OSHA is strict about enforcing those rules, and most companies take pride in keeping their employees safe. That is good news for employees, but from a job bidding standpoint, safety compliance must be accounted for in your bids.

When you sign on to perform work for a General Contractor, you become part of that company. Every GC has a safety program, and you must abide by the GC's requirements in addition to OSHA. Often the GC's requirements will be even more strict than OSHA. You will likely have to have your crews go through jobsite-specific training with the GC. That time costs you money, so you need to cover it in your bids.
