On December 23, 2000, a one-day conference dedicated to the New Chronology took place at the St. Petersburg University of the Humanities and Social Sciences. The meeting was organized at the initiative of G.Kasparov and the rector of this university, A.S. Zapesotsky. From Moscow, G.Kasparov, G.Nosovskiy, and others arrived. The opponents were Petersburg historians.
The meeting proceeded exceptionally tense. G.Kasparov delivered a speech mainly criticizing traditional history. G.Nosovskiy also spoke, discussing the history of the problem and the methods of New Chronology, but he was interrupted and not allowed to finish his presentation. Afterward, a general discussion was announced. From the historians' side, aggressive and often uncontrolled statements followed. It became clear that they didn't even understand the existence of the problem with traditional chronology. The meeting did not bring any real benefit.
