On this day in 2006, Julian Assange creates Wikileaks, which would go on to reveal the worst war crimes committed in NATO nation wars in the Middle East, and corruption and malpractice of governments worldwide.

Among the many revelations, was the Collateral Murder footage from Iraq, in which a US Apache helicopter opens fire. Reuters journalists, Saeed Chmagh and Namir Noor-Eldeen were gunned down, several others were killed while the US pilots laughed.

Julian Assange remains imprisoned in the UK, facing extradition to the United States where he faces up to 175 years in prison for revealing Washington’s crimes and secrets that the US did not want the world to know about.
