Horseshoe Wine Bottle /Glass Holder
Watch in a picture video as I build a horseshoe wine bottle/glass holder that you will be able to stick in the ground at your favorite area, adjust the height to fit your needs, sit in your favorite chair, drink your favorite wine, from your favorite wine glass. I will tell you what you will need, give you the measurements, and explain how to do it.
Most wine bottles are 3-1/2” in diameter, the widest point of a #1 horseshoe is also that dimension. You will need two #1 horseshoes, four #00 horseshoes, two ¼” x ¾” x 1-5/8” flat bar, one 1/4” x ¾” x 3-1/2” flat bar, and one ½” x 30” steel round stock to build this project.
Here are some jigs I made to speed up the process and make the finished product more consistent. You will see them in use as we go along.
I use this half horseshoe as a pattern for the angle to cut the #1 horseshoes at.
I use this jig to mark the lines on the table at 3-1/2” they need to be parallel and square.
Lay the ¼” x ¾” x 3-5/8” flat between hold square and straight with some vise-grips and weld, do the same for the opposite side.
Lay out one of the other half horseshoes with one of the ¼” x 1-5/8” flat and square with the lines, clamp down and weld. Repeat for opposite side.
If you are looking for an antique look with clear lacquer, then at this time you should run a grinder with a 60 grit flap disk randomly on all parts.
Fit the parts in the jig, and holding all parts tight to the jig and square tack the two smaller sections in place, and weld.
I install the rod in the center of the jig, set the jig on a vise, clamp the rod in the vise at the right height, center the horseshoes and tack the rod in place.
Then gently remove the project from the jig, place in a vise and weld complete, quartering it. (Weld one side then the other, welding one quarter at a time).
Lay the four #00 horseshoes upside down on the bench, and set the project down on top of them. Use a square to make each of the glass holders square to each other. Eyeball to make sure all looks good and tack all in place; you will need the vise-grips for this again to hold all square and keep it from pulling, repeat all the way around.
That is the completed project, now it just needs paint or in this case I went with the antique look and clear lacquer. Hope you enjoyed the project, please like and subscribe. Here it is with clear lacquer the bottom section is just a display stand. This wine bottle glass holder can also double as a Baltimore Oriole feeder install four glasses, the cut two oranges in half and ½ in each glass they will flock to it in the spring, & summer.
This can all be done without the jig. Below is the address if you want to build the jig: https://rumble.com/v3vqt6y-build-a-jig-for-the-wine-bottle-glass-holder.html
