Awamel - the Thirteenth Staff of Tar Malaar, disgruntled tool of the Gods, professional procrastinator and all-around pessimist - has found hirself the unwilling host of a rather horrific parasite: an Mind Flayer tadpole. Accompanied by a band of similarly afflicted by unlikely compatible individuals, he seeks a way to evict this new resident - or at least find a way to make it start paying rent - before he falls to its temptations, and becomes an Illithid in turn.
