Connecticut enacts its most sweeping gun control law since the Sandy Hook shooting

Connecticut’s most comprehensive gun control legislation since the 2013 law, which was enacted in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, is set to take effect on Sunday.

Advocates for gun control are determined to push for further firearm regulations, despite ongoing legal challenges taking place nationwide.

This new law, endorsed by Democratic Governor Ned Lamont in June, imposes restrictions such as prohibiting the open carrying of firearms and limiting the sale of more than three handguns to a single individual within a 30-day period, with certain exceptions for instructors and other specific cases.

Shortly after its passage, the law faced legal challenges from supporters of gun rights, NBC News reported.
