SHOCKING Performance – Dodge Challenger Hurricane Inline-6 Twin Turbo Sound…Better than a Hemi V8?

Dodge Hurricane Engine Review (sound and quarter mile) based on the video in which the Direct Connection Challenger Drag Pak, with the inline-6 twin turbo Hurricane engine for upcoming Dodge cars attempts some drag runs. The car is shown racing on the famous Woodward Ave drag strip, in Detroit, MI, the heart of American Muscle Car culture.

Video has been covered by several channels so far, but let’s help out a smaller channel, @TheMoparJunkie for recording such an important piece of automotive news, showcasing the sound the Dodge Hurricane Challenger makes. Regardless of Dodge Hurricane Sound, the video is very important! (Also, congrats to him, on his beautiful new Chrysler 300C!)

The Dodge Hurricane Challenger Drag Pak underperforms, in every metric that matters to buyers. Sure, it still looks good, but speed and exhaust sound are very muted. The Direct Connection team blames this on the car not being dialed in, which either shows that they don’t have a product anywhere near ready, or that this is the final product. A slow, heavy six cylinder car.

Dodge Hurricane engine 0-60 can’t be all that great either, from the drag runs in the video. Dodge Hurricane engine exhaust sounds more like a turbo diesel dump truck, or a bus than a muscle car.

This is Woodward Ave! Manufacturers bring out their fastest, dominating cars to test, as well as show off to enthusiasts. Yet, this is what Dodge thought was good enough. It is a major failure on Dodge’s part, in my opinion.

But, this is a win for us. Dodge realizes their EV electrification plans are not going well. EV’s are becoming the poisonous fruit for the auto industry. Sure, a Hemi V8 would be ideal, but this car, and its future failure will prove that we want internal combustion, and we want V8s (in the front, and with manuals please. Thanks GM *insert snarky Vette smile*)

I do mention ButterdaGreat’s video (burying the hatchet), and while I agree and think it’s a good video, I make my claim why Dodge cannot bring back the Apache 392 Hemi. As much as I want that, it doesn’t make sense. At least not for the next few years, by which time a new engine would be needed anyway.

California is sending surveys to classic car owners as well. This is not a coincidence. They know the effect classic cars have on young people. It is a sign of weakness. So, its on us, to step up, and get involved. Check out your local car clubs, and join them. It’s a fun way to get into this lifestyle, where we help each other, from buying a car, to repairs, and even yes, political issues. Cars are a part of our lives. Car clubs channel that, and due to our large numbers, politicians must listen. Just remember to avoid a certain insurance company!
