Vice-Fuhrer Rudolf Hess Strange Flight to Britain

In 1941, one of the strangest events of World War 2 happened, when Vice-Fuhrer Rudolf Hess, flew to Scotland, jumped out of a plane in a parachute, before landing close to the Duke of Hamilton’s estate.
He insisted that he had an important message for the Duke, but was quickly arrested and spent the rest of his life in prison, before he was found hanged in his cell, aged 93.
Shrouded in mystery, the story of Rudolf Hess’s daring flight has spawned endless speculations of why one of the most powerful men in Germany did this.
Had he really come alone? Had someone sent him to Scotland, or had someone sent for him? Or was this simply the act of a man that had lost his mind?
