Gold Bloom is a member of the Enlighten-Mint family.
Gold Bloom costs 0 Sun.
When planted, Gold Bloom drops 375 Sun.
Gold Bloom has a 75 second recharge. (-2 to -5 seconds per level.)

Commentary:
What can you say? Gold Bloom lets you start every level with an additional 375 Sun. This can be used in Arena League or during Penny's Pursuit to give you an added boost. Or you can even use starting plant food to make this even more potent. What about using Imitater to duplicate Gold Bloom? There is a lot to like about this.

That said, Gold Bloom is a Sun boost. It is an instant plant which means Gold Bloom should not be your only Sun producer on a level. You should take another Sun producer which means you are dedicating two (2) slots to Sun producers which leaves one (1) less slot for zombie eliminating plants. This may or may not be a concern. However, on levels where one can only select five (5) or fewer plants, this can be a problem.

Bottom Line:
Gold Bloom does not really have an equal - only Solar Sage comes close. However, Gold Bloom is a money plant. The player needs to decide if Gold Bloom is worth the real world cash needed to unlock this plant.

We do not get a preview of Penny's Pursuit before it is released. So what you see is what players get.

We also try to vary the strategies from week to week and showcasing different plants and strategies and ideas. Using the same strategy week after week would be boring to see.
