Mohamed Al-Fayed has died at the age of 94, according to the British newspaper Daily Mail. The Egyptian-born tycoon was known for being the owner of the famous Harrods department store and also for being the father of Dodi Al-Fayed, partner of Diana of Wales, in the late 1990s.

This past Thursday was the 26th anniversary of the tragic accident that ended the lives of Dodi and Lady Di in Paris and rumors had led to believe that the tycoon had died the same day, but finally it happened a day after that event.

It was the family who announced it through an official statement.

"Mrs. Mohamed Al Fayed, her children and grandchildren wish to confirm that her beloved husband, father and grandfather, Mohamed, passed away peacefully from old age on Wednesday, August 30, 2023," it read.

The famed businessman had a long career. He invested in hotel, mining and shipping companies, and also had a foray into the world of sports as the owner of Fulham soccer club.

Al Fayed claimed for years that the death of his son Dodi and Princess Diana was not accidental in that chase by a group of "paparazzi" through the streets of Paris and pointed the finger at the British security services.
