Quail Hunting: No Dog Quail Hunting in Southern California

I go upland hunting on public land with my buddy looking for California quail. We're hunting with no dogs and I do a catch and cook on the quail we were lucky enough to put into the bag.

My shooting is poor, which I blame the ammo shortage on, but still find a few birds to take home anyhow.

I'm hunting these California quail with my CZ Woodcock over under shotgun deep in the desert. I'm surprised much can live in these regions but there are plenty of birds to find.
