In this video, we’re going to talk about how stress affects your brain.
There is a hormone called cortisol that’s actually triggered by stress. Cortisol depletes the brain of oxygen, which can slowly start wearing out the short term memory. This situation can eventually worsen.
Cortisol also releases insulin. It’s even behind a lot of cases of diabetes. Insulin resistance is a condition that occurs before pre-diabetes. Insulin resistance is a situation where a person’s insulin levels are too high for too long, and it blocks the absorption into the cells and brain. You can no longer get glucose (fuel) to the brain.
When you’re running on sugar, the fluctuation of high and low sugar levels really messes with the brain. This is why running the body on ketones could be a better way to go.
What can you do?
• Cut out sugar
• Lower your stress
• Get plenty of sleep
• Limit your frequency of eating (2-3 meals a day—no snacks)
