In this video, we're going to talk about protein and how much protein you may want to consume per day.

Generally, people need between 3-6 oz. of protein per meal. If you have kidney problems or liver problems, you may need less. If you're an athlete, you're younger, or you're going through stress, you may need more. If you do too much protein, you may not be able to sleep at night. 3 oz. of protein might look like 2 chicken legs, 3 1/2 eggs, or some meat that's about the size of a deck of cards.

The majority of people consume too much protein. All of this extra protein can end up harming the liver over time. When you have protein, it may be best to have it after your vegetables to avoid eating too much protein.

Protein is typically used to help repair body tissue, and it can even be used as a fuel source.
