Let’s talk about the symptoms of GERD. GERD stands for gastroesophageal reflux disease. Basically, it’s a chronic problem where the valve on the top of your stomach won’t close well, allowing the acid in your stomach to come up through the valve. This can cause irritation in the throat and can lead to many other symptoms.

Symptoms of GERD:
• Acid reflux
• Belching
• Excess saliva
• A feeling of food stuck in the throat
• Sore throat
• Hoarseness
• Sour taste

The pH of your stomach is what causes the valve of the stomach to close. The pH of the stomach should be extremely acidic.

One way to tell if you have a good stomach pH is to take an acidifier and see if you feel better. Ultimately, it may be beneficial to make the stomach more acidic so that the valve will close. You can take acidifiers before a meal. You may want to start taking 3-5 and then less over time.
