In this video, we’re going to talk about why you might be feeling angry and irritable on keto. When you’re first adapting to keto, your body is building new enzymes to help you adapt from running on sugar to running on fat.

During this keto adaptation phase, you may not feel your best, especially if you’re low on important minerals. Make sure that you consume adequate B vitamins, potassium, and sea salt. Increasing your vegetable intake and consuming nutritional yeast and electrolyte powder can help if you’re feeling moody on keto.

If you’ve been on the keto diet for a while and you still find yourself feeling cranky on keto, this may mean that your blood sugars are too low. Try adding more fat to your meals, plenty of greens, and be sure to consume a moderate amount of protein.

If you’re not doing intermittent fasting with keto, this can have significant mood effects. Combining keto and intermittent fasting lowers insulin, which helps reverse insulin resistance. If you’re not doing both of these together, you will still spike insulin. This can lower your blood sugar, causing irritability.

If you’re feeling moody on keto, eating more carbs is not the solution! This will cause you to feel very irritable because your body will not adapt to running on ketones. Dropping your carbs below 20 grams can help speed things up and adapt your body to ketosis.

Always ensure that you’re getting enough nutrients and always practice consistency to avoid irritability when adapting to ketosis.
