In this video, we’re going to take a look at the recommended diabetes treatment from the American Diabetes Association. The dietary recommendations from the ADA state that 60% of your calories each day should be from carbohydrates. This is the worst diabetes tip because carbohydrates keep blood sugars high!

When you consume carbs, you raise insulin. You’re then prescribed medication to lower insulin which leads to low blood sugar, also known as hypoglycemia. The solution to hypoglycemia is to consume 6 meals per day and consume glucose tablets when your blood sugar is too low. Consequently, this raises insulin once again.

At this point, you’re back to square one, dealing with the symptoms of diabetes. High blood pressure is a common symptom of diabetes, treated with diuretics and a low-salt diet. Both of these diabetes treatments cause insulin resistance.

High cholesterol is a result of high insulin and high blood sugar. Diabetics are then put on statins and told to follow a diet low in fat and rich in whole grains. This type of diet will continue to trigger insulin. Statins drugs which are prescribed for high cholesterol contribute to insulin resistance.

Diabetes is a disease of high blood glucose so consuming more sugar is counterproductive.
