Toxemia is also known as pre-eclampsia. You can prevent it naturally and inexpensively. I recommend a book called The Natural Way To A Trouble-Free Pregnancy: The Toxemia/Thiamine Connection.

Toxemia is a condition in pregnancy in which you’re very sick. It causes over 30,000 fetal deaths per year in the US alone, along with 200 maternal deaths. The symptoms are:

● High blood pressure
● Protein in your urine
● Red blood cell breakdown
● Impaired liver and kidney function
● Swelling
● Seizures

And toxemia can result in premature births.

Toxemia is caused by a vitamin B1 deficiency. In certain women, the placenta blocks the absorption of B1. Read the book; it will help raise your awareness of the importance of B1 during pregnancy. You’ll discover research the author cites staying, “100 mg daily has been essential in preventing toxemia in pregnancy”.

If you’re pregnant, or you know a woman who’s pregnant, I highly recommend this book. Have them start taking B1 as well as nutritional yeast, to get the whole vitamin B complex. Proper nutrition is essential to prevent toxemia during pregnancy!
