Episode 1 "Shipwrecked" (12 October 1965) : 16th September 1697 - following a four day storm somewhere between Brazil and Africa, The Esmeralda is sunk. A survivor - Robinson Crusoe - is washed up on a beach - exhausted by his ordeal and cautious of wild animals and snakes he takes refuge in a tree and reminisces about his youthful desire for excitement.

'The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe' is a French-German children's television drama series made by Franco London Films (a.k.a. FLF Television Paris) and based on Daniel Defoe's 1719 novel Robinson Crusoe. The show was first aired in Germany in October 1964 and syndicated in the USA the same year. It was first aired in the UK in 1965 as a 13-part serial. This is the English dubbed version. It was produced by Henry Deutschmeister with a new musical soundtrack. The series concentrates not only on events on the island but included Crusoe's other adventures, told in flashback.

The series was directed by Jean Sacha and stars Robert Hoffmann and Fabian Cevallos as Friday. It is narrated is by Lee Payant and the theme music composers are Robert Mellin and Gian-Piero Reverberi.
