In this video, I talk about chapped lips. One of the worst things you can do is use chapstick or lip balm because they often contain alcohol, a solvent, or mineral oil that actually pulls oil out of your lips. Then you need more of it, apply more, and it’s a vicious circle. (Same with hand cream.)

Sometimes lip products have wax in them, which is meant to create moisture but usually fails.

Instead, let’s focus on the underlying cause of chapped lips: a vitamin B2 (riboflavin) deficiency. Your lips dry out and the corners of your mouth crack. Because B2 is an antimicrobial vitamin, you can then get infected with candida, which can cause fissures on the side of your mouth.

Vitamin B2 is a coenzyme that helps break down fats to ensure your skin is lubricated.

These are good sources of B2:
●Eggs
●Leafy greens
●Nuts
●Dairy
●Meats
●Fish

If someone is deficient it’s usually because they’re taking birth control pills, or are vegan and not consuming foods high in B2. But the biggest reason is refined foods, mainly refined grains and sugars.

If you’re new to my channel please click the link below for information about healthy keto and intermittent fasting. Learn how to do them, and you won’t end up with a vitamin B deficiency. Many people after they go on keto notice their skin is no longer dry and they no longer experience chapped lips.
