Today we’re going to talk about a very deadly mushroom that you want to avoid eating, as well as the antidote. The most deadly mushroom is the death cap mushroom.

There is a specific chemical in this mushroom that can block RNA. RNA is like the template that helps build proteins—almost like the blueprints for building a house. If you don’t have blueprints, things can’t be built or repaired.

This chemical goes directly to the liver. Within 12-24 hours after consumption, a person will likely experience acute symptoms like digestive problems. Within the next 12-24 hours, the person will typically feel better. But, 24-48 hours later, the person could potentially experience a coma or death. Consuming just one half of this mushroom is enough to kill an adult. The liver is constantly repairing. But, the chemical in this mushroom stops the repair action of the liver.

Overall, the best thing to do is to go to the hospital and get your stomach pumped. But, there are also potential antidotes for this poison, including activated carbon and milk thistle. The combination of milk thistle and NAC could potentially be the best antidote.
