In this short video, I want to cover what you should know about sodium lauryl sulfate. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) is a detergent.

Sodium lauryl sulfate is in certain products, such as:
• Shampoos
• Gels
• Cosmetics
• Facial cleansers
• Dishwashing liquid

Sodium lauryl sulfate is an irritant to the skin, lungs, and eyes. It’s also toxic to aquatic life. Other than that, is it toxic to humans? Sodium lauryl sulfate may be contaminated with two toxic chemicals. The first is ethylene oxide, which is a known carcinogen. The second is 1,4 dioxane, which is a possible carcinogen.

Overall, it may be beneficial to get products that are sulfate-free.
